Art in the Gardens August 2nd

 Art in the Gardens, the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens' annual event which brings community together with the finest of Mendocino County artists, food vendors, wineries, and brewery. This year, the 23rd annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, August 2, from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Stroll the grounds, viewing booths of the more than 70 artists who will be displaying and selling their art. Visit with renowned Mendocino artist Hilary Eddy, this year's featured artist. Sample wines from Mendocino County, "America's Greenest Wine Region," and beyond. Choose from among a delectable array of food, including delicious options from the Gardens' own Rhody's Garden Café, sweets and savories from Bolliver's Fine Foods, Piaci Pub & Pizzeria, Living Light Café, Mangia Bene, and Cowlick's Hand Made Ice Cream. All ages will enjoy quilting and weaving demonstrations by Ocean Wave Quilters and Pacific Textile Arts, and musical offerings by local performers. With a focus on being family-friendly, adult tickets cost $20 in advance ($25 at the door) and children under the age of 16 get in free. Wine tasting is available for an additional $20, to those 21 years of age and older, and includes a keepsake wine-glass, sponsored by Matson Building Materials. While canine companions are welcome during normal open days at the Gardens, they will not be allowed at Art in the Gardens. And as a special fundraiser, the Gardens is unable to accept free guest passes for admission.

    Lighted Boat Parade!

    "6th Annual Lighted Boat Parade in Noyo Harbor will be on Friday, December 6, 2013. Participants are asked to rendezvous in their lighted craft in front of the Coast Guard station in Noyo Harbor at 5:30PM. The parade will proceed downriver from there and make several trips up and down the river until approx. 6:30. People wishing to view the parade may do so at any of the great restaurants in the harbor, or at the end of North Harbor Drive, under the bridge at 6pm.     Plein Air Paint Out!

    Look who we found painting this spectacular ocean view at The Beachcomber! The Mendocino Art Center hosted the first Mendocino Open Paint Out (MOPO), a plein air festival, with five days of plein air painting, with wet paint sales each day in the Art Center's galleries, daily demonstrations and presentations and nightly community barbecues, with food and beverages available for sale. The festival culminated with a Quick Draw competition and sale, followed by a celebratory reception and awards presentation. We love all the happenings here on The Coasat - and so will you!

Kids check out; Spanish Fun for Kids, Fun with Yarn Lanyard cord and more, Origami, Skateboard Lessons, and Catch the Beat (a dance class taught by our Zumba instructors) Adults come be a Star at the Starr's Open Art Studio. Looking to expand your safety knowledge? We are offering Red Cross Lifeguard Class, First Aid, CPR for the Pro and Jr. Guard this Summer. Learn to be comfortable in the water with Swim Lessons, there will be several sessions over summer for both youth and adults.

    Please join us for a concert, dinner and silent auction fundraiser for the Redwood Coast Senior Center's Circle of Elders Social Day Program on June 2 at Caspar Community Center. Local musicians Gene Parsons, David Hayes, Bill Bottrell, Steven Bates, Marcus McCallen, John Bush, Roger Fritz, Christy Wells and Jan Kessner will perform beginning at 6:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for pizza, desserts, beer and wine. Tickets for The Acoustic Jamboree are $20 and are available at Brown Paper Tickets http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/378148 and at Tangents, Harvest Market and Out of this World. Some silent auction items will be available at Mendocino Lake Credit Union for early bidding beginning May 7th.
